Tomintoul 8 or 12 year old, 75 CL 43% Single Malt Scotch

Tomintoul 8 or 12 year old, 75 CL 43% Single Malt ScotchAs Tomintoul distillery was founded in 1964 it is one of the more recent distilleries in Scotland. In July 1965 the first drops of spirit dripped out of the still.
The bottle design is relatively old as I remember it as one of my earlier 8 year old Single Malts. I kept the heavy perfume-bottle like container with a metallic-look screw-cap for many years, to eventually throw it away along with many other boxes and bottles that consumed to much space.

It was only recently that I saw this photo and was reminded of this rather unique and daring bottle, daring in particular in those early day’s around mid 1970′s. With minor changes the model stayed in production until well into the 1990′s.

Recommended retail price at the time I first bought one, around Dfl 20,- (€8). The mid-70′s bottle is currently available for around €90, $120 or £74.
